For this project, there were a lot of scrapped idea for this board game, and most of them were scrapped due to the ambiguity surrounding the ethic of those themes. We settled on a fictional murder mystery set in a hospital that is filled with interpersonal drama. The game has four rounds, and there is a game master who will assign players’ role and QR codes. After getting their codes, players will read up about their character’s background story, and then bring back a piece of puzzles that were scattered across the physical space that this game is hosted in. For our play test sessions, the game is hosted on our program’s floor and the puzzles are scattered throughout the entire floor. After finding their respective puzzle pieces, all players come back and try to piece them together, in which will reveal a part of the murder process. At the end, all players will need to decide who is the murderer through discussion, and collectively vote out the murderer.
During the development of this project, I helped with the interaction design and the physical fabrication aspects of this board game. Then, during the running of this game, I set up the placements of the puzzle pieces with another group mate.
